Often times in the animal rescue world when we take in dogs/cats from shelters/puppy mills/cat colonies or abuse/neglect situations. The animals have had no veterinary or medical care. When P.A.W.S. commits to helping an animal this can include knowing that medical conditions are our responsibility. These health expenses can exceed the adoption fee and when this happens we know these animals would be considered "unadoptable" unless we took care of their medical expenses.
